Our cat recently had his front leg amputated and we bought these stairs so that he could get on and off of the sofa by himself. We weren't sure if he would use them or not, but he took to them right away and now he loves them! We just purchased a second set for next to the bed and may get a third.They are made of a stiff cardboard with a fabric cover, so safe for cats or dogs up to about 20 pounds. Our 60 lb border collie mix put his feet on them once and they caved in. Luckily we were able to pop them back into place. What is nice about the cardboard is that they are super light to move around. We got the pink color and its a nice soft rosey-mauve with a chocolate brown trim. so much more attractive than many of the brown plastic pet stairs out there AND they fold up flat for storage!
