It's just a little confusing removing the dashboard piece to fit it, but when you put it back together it looks like it's there! And I'm stupid - I thought the magnet was supposed to stick to the phone by itself, and it doesn't stick, at least not tightly enough. Small glued metal discs are there for that. My phone case has a rubber inside and a hard outside, I separated them and attached a metal disc to the inside of the hard case and now the phone sticks perfectly to the magnetic base of the holder. And it's in the perfect spot—away from vents, screens, and controls. The only thing that can bother it is the alarm button (if the phone is present), but you can still reach it easily. You just can't hit it with your hand from above like in an emergency. I really like the magnetic connection because there are no clips to unzip to take the phone out. I often grab my phone to take a quick picture out the window and it does a great job. I understand that the base won't last long, so I might buy another one in reserve. I just got a Rav4 and my old vent holder didn't work at all. The handle wasn't strong enough to hold it at the vertical opening. And with that, I take full advantage of the ventilation that I never had in my old car.
