Strange smell, not very sticky

The design is cute and suitable for every school leaver. However, the plastic smells like burnt chemical right out of the bag and retains a very strong odor even after application. The smell went away after about a week. I've tried applying them to clean, dry glass, but unfortunately the adhesion wasn't very reliable. The slightest amount of moisture will cause the pieces to curl and fall off. Unfortunately, they won't be very helpful.
