Solid Performer - Worth Upgrading

I purchased this unit after using the Edge 500 for a year and lovingly passed it on to my wife. The price of the 510 is a bit higher than the 500, but in my opinion it's worth it. The color screen is pleasant and I found it viewable in all lighting conditions. The high degree of customization of the screens is very convenient, as is the setting for different driving situations (e.g. racing setting, training setting, driving fun setting, etc.). As a bonus, you can track up to 10 bikes and give each a small icon and individual settings. The biggest update is the addition of GLONASS to GPS, which allows it to get fixes much quicker than 500, and I've found that there's less "GPS drift". The touchscreen bothered me at first, but works very well. Out of the box, you should update the firmware using the Garmin Connect software. One of my favorite learning data fields, HR Graph, was missing in the first version. A week later new firmware was released and my beloved HR Graph was back on board. The firmware also fixed a few bugs and such, but I never noticed any issues. Live Track - This feature is pretty handy. I can link it to my Facebook account, Twitter account or just send an email invite to people who can actually watch. My wife likes it because she can see and see where I am and guess when I'll be home. Battery life. The battery life turned out to be much better than I expected. I thought the big screen, color and backlight would drain it pretty quickly, but it lasts longer than my 500. Even during a live track, it only drains about 8% an hour. The reload time is also much faster than my 500. Overall this was a fantastic product. Initially I would have given four stars because it's bigger than I expected (well over 500) and my heart rate chart was missing. After spending some time with it and updating the firmware, it delivered excellent 5-star performance. In normal use, the size doesn't really bother me, and it's not noticeably heavier than the 500.
