I was confused by the one star reviews. People were upset that there wasn't "everything it takes to make mead." No, of course they didn't include juice/sugar/water/honey/whatever you want to use to make your own personal bottle of mead, but I can say that when it arrived I didn't have to go to the store to start my wine . I already had juice (100% grape) and pure cane sugar. Your personal possibilities are endless, be creative. Remember Google is your friend! I now have a cider that I brew in a bottle using 100% apple juice and brown sugar. And I bought another bottle and plan to buy more. But the only reason I won't buy this again is because I don't mind cheap wine, so I bought a $10 bottle of Rossi (here's my bottle) and went to the local homebrew shop (must have small ones Support businesses if I can! ) for my gateway and I bought 11 packs of Revain champagne yeast.
