After reading the reviews on this I ordered a large size for a man's foot (shoe size 101/2) but was perfectly comfortable. The gel liner is attached very well and really forms part of the sock. For more than a week I used Aquaphor in the form of an ointment, put on heel socks every night, and dry skin and thick calluses almost disappeared. It also healed cracked calluses where the skin was sore. I was able to use the file when needed and now use it as my mode 3-4 days a week. These heeled socks made a big difference. I hand wash them once a week and tumble dry them with my other laundry. You MUST check the dryer often enough to take them out when they're dry or they're sure to get ruined.
