They fit well and the padding works but is not a substitute for a proper workout.

I bought these lined shorts because I had to drive 60 miles for charity and hadn't exercised properly beforehand so I got back pain after 15 miles or more. Very good and the size chart was spot on. They did a good job of keeping my butt from getting sore but like I said I wasn't training properly so I was in quite a bit of pain by the end of the trip. But if I didn't have them, it would be a lot worse. The padding was good and comfortable. I was a little upset but it was a long drive for me. I can buy another pair but if you train properly you might not need soft shorts.
