Really useful for everyone in winter. You don't need SAD to benefit - we ALL need sunlight and these full-spectrum bulbs are a wonderful, inexpensive way to get it in the winter. I keep it in my kitchen so we can turn it on when we get ready for work or every morning. I turn it on when I'm home during the day when it's sunny outside. I find it wakes me up well and keeps me active throughout the day. I put it in a small mobile table lamp so I can move it to another place in the house if needed. However, it is best to turn it off in the late afternoon, as soon as the sun goes down outside, so that you can fall asleep as usual. Our cats seem to benefit from it too.
