Review on πŸ–¨οΈ TRONXY Enhanced 3D Printer Motherboard Extruder Installation by Walter Martin

Good quality on a profitable car

UPS - Printer ships mostly assembled. There are still some details to be installed and tightened. The assembly takes only a few minutes. But take your time. The auto level feature is actually more of a level checking feature. You still have to set the level manually. But the automatic function helps a lot. The fill level can be set to within several hundredths. The bed heats up well and the fit with the included build plate is good. The flexible plate makes it easy to remove finished prints. I like the Tronxy firmware, although it can be difficult to scroll through all the menus when trying to change settings on the fly or quickly. Also, adjusting the Z axis requires the head to return to the given coordinate. This is useful when resetting with paper or another sensor. But it's slow if you just try to install in stages. Bottom - Z axis can be difficult to type. I've done almost every possible repair. But the printer still inconsistently sets and maintains a good z-offset. It can sometimes take 5 attempts to set the offset correctly on a new print. And the next print probably won't be the same. So you have to reset Z again. Once the offset is set and the first print layer is snug against the print bed, the printer generally works fine and gives very good results. Just make sure you're using good thread. PLA+ with a 210 nozzle and 55-60 layer gives the best results. Overall I think this is a good first 3D printer. But if I had to do any kind of production printing, I'd like a more stable machine. Resetting Z for each print can drastically decrease print efficiency. If Tronxy can solve this problem in its next iteration, the new model will be a formidable contender.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Expensive
