I bought the Extreme set for my husband for his birthday and immediately bought this addition as I thought we needed more coasters for my 3 year old to accommodate the To have a chance to build something myself in the near future. There's a lot more to the Extreme set itself than I thought it would be, and we probably don't need this set. But I think it was a worthwhile purchase. - Very large base: I like a very large base that offers a lot of stability (especially when my son is jumping with excitement and my kid is trying to join in). - Very large "fan". ” pieces: lots of fun for my son (but doesn't really add variety to building for "advanced" builders as they're basically just pretty pipes. We make cars and tractors out of them too. :) - Dividers: I love it to have more splinters as a novice builder. I found I needed ALL to figure out how to get anywhere! - Not Solid Details: I was so excited about the roller coaster-like figures, but those are the only details in all of our four combo sets that just aren't great. Due to their fragility, they're very easy to knock off the level, just enough to stop the balls in them, which is a big disappointment when you're going for a massive run. That is the reason for four instead of five stars. - Other Bends/Loops/Jumps: The Extreme Starter Set really has enough of these that we wouldn't normally use them all, so we just don't need more of them for us.
