This rod is really good. I haven't found a unit I'd rather use. The rods are ideal in girth and length. The snug fit is the tightest fit and doesn't take much pressure to get it as snug as it should be. Smooth, shiny, straight, firm, and with just enough oil to keep it clean and smooth without making a mess. These rods slide easily and effortlessly into the socket, but when you turn the knob it holds tight and won't let go until you do. It also works great with other Starrett products. I use it often with their shaft alignment tool and dial gauges. However, this detail added versatility to what I can do with shafts and assemblies.
