Incomprehensible instructions - car care

I have no idea if I am using the product correctly as the instructions were very unclear. I sprayed and rubbed. There was nothing on whether I should let it dry and then polish or what I should do. I tested it to see if water would drain off the hood and it didn't. I would like a better explanation of how to use it properly.
