OLD USER APPROVED

Edit: I've been using this drive for 4 years now and it's still working. Since then I have recommended this company. I recently bought 8TB for my 2019 Macbook Pro with macOS Catalina and 4TB for Xbox. Thanks to USB-C, the speed is faster than before. Screenshots of Crystal Disk Mark speed test are attached. Initial Review: The VectoTech Rapid 500GB USB 3.0 Portable SSD is a great addition to my storage needs. I've been using it for a while now, so here's a list of pros and cons. Advantages: 1. Easy to use, just plug in.2. High transmission speed. I used the BlackMagic speed test and got a write speed of 416MB/s and a read speed of 421MB/s (screenshot attached).3. Smooth appearance.4. Lightweight (only 3.8 oz)5. Shockproof, which is a plus if you move around a lot. Cons: 1st prize. Well it's an SSD, all SSDs are more expensive than their hard drive counterparts. I needed reliability and I really wanted speed, so I had to pay a little more.2. Comes in black. I can see from the picture that it also comes in white and gray which harmonize better. Hope they come out soon. Test: Macbook Pro 2015 Retina used for testing, 3 video files of 4.5GB each. Writing takes 42 seconds, so 13.5 GB * 1024/42 = 329 MB/s. Read - 31 seconds, that's 445 MB/s. I think the speed might be slower if I'm copying a lot of small files, but that's due to the peculiarities of the file system.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Out of fashion
