I like to clamp and feed right from my desk without getting out and looking for a fork. I use an adjustable desk on wheels that I can move from my bedroom to my home office to my living room. All I have to do is unplug an outlet, that's this item, and I can wheel it anywhere without pulling out a bunch of crap plugs. Now I mainly use it to power my monitor and laptop. I use the other to power my keyboard, mouse, iPad or iPhone. I've never used USB ports on the side, only based on another review that it would make a buzzing noise or stop working. My paranoia is that it could be a fire hazard, so I just use a large iPad charger to charge whatever I need and it charges faster. I am planning to upgrade my monitor to one that can power my MacBook Pro via USB-C (see Dell u3818dw). Once I have it, I will free another path from it.
