Bright and inexpensive.

These lamps are bright and inexpensive. However, they seem a bit "cheap". It doesn't matter though, once they're installed you don't need to interact with them anymore. They have 4 wings and a 5th central sub light, so they give a lot of light and cover a large area. The wings are the only slightly odd aspect of this design. Most lanterns of this type have wings that fold down, while this model has wings that fold up. This has 2 disadvantages: 1) when installing the lantern in a confined space, such as e.g. in an attic in a canopy, the wings must be lowered to gain access to the base, but then they may stick out too far at the sides for light to penetrate and screw into the base. The "regular" folding wings design always has a base in a slim body, allowing the light to fit in any space a regular lamp would fit, and then the wings fold at any angle possible. To screw in this light, the wings must be unfolded, which greatly increases the overall space required for installation. 2) Because the front of the fixture has a maximum opening perpendicular to the base, it is not possible to place the fixture in a shielded configuration with the wings pointing downwards and slightly inwards - this becomes a problem in rooms with low ceilings. Basically, this (very bright) light should always fall directly into your eyes. So if you have a large room with a fairly high/regular ceiling with nice open light bases these are great bright inexpensive lights. But for lower-level installations with limited space, these devices may not be ideal.
