Review on Convenient Foldable Cargo Shelf for πŸš— Jeep JL Wrangler 2018-2022 by Hooke Road by Jack Edwards

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Reliable product let down by poor installation instructions.

Once installed the product fits perfectly, looks solid and should perform as advertised. (I drive a 2021 Jeep Wrangler). But the setup is no picnic: the product is very similar (but not identical) to the RuggedRidge tailgate table. Unable to understand the documentation provided by the vendor (one page printout with small images and nothing available on their website) I followed RuggedRidge's instructions (video). - The product consists of a frame that bolts to the tailgate and a tray that bolts to the frame. It comes pre-assembled, but in order to bolt the frame to the tailgate, the tray must be removed from the frame. Why should it be shipped assembled when the customer needs to disassemble it for installation? The product comes with 6 gaskets, but they are not mentioned in the instructions. Watch the RuggedRidge video and you will see that you need 4 of these. The frame comes with pre-drilled holes. The holes must match the attachment points in the tailgate. In the product I received one of the holes was misaligned and I had to make the hole bigger (second picture) - the plastic trim had to be cut (4 x 1/2" holes) to fit the standoffs. When installed per Rugged Ridge instructions, the frame remains isolated from the tailgate skin (possibly 1/4" dead space) as shown in the last picture. The table appears solid and does not rattle. The supplier (importer) should be responsible for quality control and installation instructions work, but the product itself is good and worth 1/3 the price of a Jeep/Mopar brand liftgate table.
