Difficult to fit onto shaft. But the main problem is that it is a spur gear and the gear it replaces is a helical gear. I read this in a review but disregarded it because I thought the reviewer was wrong. It turns out he was absolutely right. As soon as I forcibly engaged the helical motor drive gear and the softer new plastic spur gear, the system locked up due to gear interference. Before installing the pencil sharpener cover I got the gears spinning and eventually the plastic gave enough for the motor to power the system. But not sure how long.
