Review on ❄️ Ultimate Cooling Power for GeForce: Arctic Cooling Accelero Xtreme by Bobby Montoya

Revainrating 2 out of 5

good cooling but horrible installation

Installed on an XFX GTX 285. Three fans and a GPU heatsink seem to get the job done. After installation, the temperature (recorded via Speedfan) rose from 85°C to 55°C. The fans and main GPU controller appear to be of decent quality. I've been working with computers for many years and when I read some of the other reviews that said the installation was difficult I think I realized it couldn't be THAT bad and maybe people were doing something wrong. They weren't. IT'S SO HARD. First, the instructions are terrible. Second, the custom aluminum heatsink didn't match the XFX 285's voltage regulators. Third, there weren't enough other square heatsinks to cover everything the stock cooler covered. I ended up making something out of other parts I had on hand, but it wasn't easy. I had to use thermal epoxy to make everything adhere. In addition, there is a large metal shield that should be attached to the back and only sticks to double-sided adhesive heating pads. It's a huge shield (the back side of the card) and will NEVER be left with just those little pads, EVER. And there's no way to attach it with the included screws. I'm usually pretty good at physically hacking things to make them work. In all I probably spent 4 hours assembling it which required not only the use of thermal epoxy but also pliers, wire cutters, a hacksaw and a grinder! This thing will make your GPU cooler, but it's DEFINITELY NOT universal, although it says it should fit GTX 260, GTX 280, and GTX 285, and definitely not an easy setup. If you really need something to cool your graphics card, this will do. However, be prepared that the installation will be very difficult. The cooling alone would have gotten 5 stars, but the setup is so bad that it only got 2.

Pros
  • Fans and cooling
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging
