A good wooden toy works best for the scratching post

Pro "Toy" is a well-made toy, and I mean a toy, not a scratching post. The wooden toy is smoothly carved and easy to paint, which is how I preferred it. It's solid like a horizontal toy but will slide on a hardwood floor, but that's an easy fix by removing the felt pads that came with the kit and replacing them with rubber pads. My cats in the video woke up to see what the new thing was and ended up playing with it for an hour. Yes, it's 3 hours less than in the box, but those are cats! Cons - scratches - it's too small. Anyway, there isn't a cat, let alone our 6-month-old marbled kitten in the video, that can scratch the post vertically. Not to mention they would keel over if they wanted what happens when they try to play the ball. I end up adding a large stand and placing the toy on elastic rope to help with both scratching and pulling. Overall, I'm happy to have a wooden toy that I can color to suit my aesthetic. Rather than being just another brightly colored cardboard toy, most manufacturers seem to think that as cat owners we should want them in our living rooms.
