In the VHF band, pressing the control knob will change the signal frequency up to 107.9MHz. I did not notice such an automatic movement in other frequency bands. The signal can be switched from stereo to mono to stereo by default. At the top of the metal case is a speaker. There is a headphone jack on the back. The resulting sound is clear and noise-free through the built-in speaker. Without the SCAN function, it takes some time to change from channel to channel and band.
