I have very little experience with Apple products but I needed a Macbook Air hub to basically mirror to a large monitor (see short video of my successful mirroring). Initially, when I connected the HDMI cable to the TV while the laptop was on, the mirror didn't work, so I just tried turning on the monitor by plugging it into the TV and it worked right away. Other features such as SD card reader, USB ports and Macbook charging worked well. The hub's USB ports connect to your laptop with a nice click and maintain a solid connection. Excellent center.
