The instructions were pretty useless but provided enough information to to help you get started. I selected the indicated tube and plugged it into the iPad's headphone jack and pressed lightly. I then used a small pair of pliers to press down on the column and tap VERY lightly. I used a pair of pliers to grab the end of the collar and gently pull it out, squeezing lightly so the tube holds what it's grabbing. After a minute or two of fiddling, it fell out, along with part of the headphone jack stem and a very small screw that appeared to be part of the headphone jack. Encouraged by this victory, I tightened my pliers around the tube and reinserted it. Even after repeated knocking and pulling nothing came out. So I re-tightened it and pulled hard. The rest of the fork came out and a tip clearly visible. Removed all of this from the tube and turned on the iPad. It worked. I bought headphones and played the song on YouTube and the phones worked fine. Turn them on and off to be sure
