Review on 🚗 Waterproof & Dustproof Cigarette Lighter Socket Splitter for Cars, Trucks, Motorbikes, Boats - CL06 by Corey Harris

I purchased a cigarette lighter socket from my local auto parts store but found that I needed more than one socket to power the dash cam and phone charger. I ordered this device with two sockets and sent another one back. The design of this device was superior to the first, although it cost less! I really like how sealed the back of the unit is and the dust covers on the front keep dirt and potential shorts out. The fuse in mine was rated at 15 amps which was way more than I needed and the wire size is quite heavy to match that amperage. I really wanted to give this five stars but it ended up being a lengthy project because the connectors were wired backwards (see pictures). First I used my meter and made sure the positive wire was the red wire. However, the washer plug had to be on top of the black ground wire to secure it under the screw that made the ground connection. I was able to save the day by cutting two inches off the red wire (with the ground plug attached) and soldering it to the end of the black ground wire. I then used black vinyl tape to cover the red end of the wire to keep it tangle free. I threw away the other connector that came with the unit and crimped the branch connector onto the red wire to add the connection directly to the fuse box. The outlets successfully power my dash cam and wireless cell phone holder/charger. Both work well with this feed. It's a really good device, it just requires a little extra effort to wire it up properly for my application. They may just have bare wires with no connectors on the ends, but they did their best, although it didn't quite work for me. Since I could simply cut off plugs that did not fit my application, I found that this did not detract from the quality of this product. The quality is definitely better than the first unit I bought locally and it was cheaper. I recommend!
