Review on πŸš— Enhanced Protection: XO Vision DX382 Universal Car Alarm System with Dual 4-Button Remotes by Michael Schwegman

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Very flexible opening/alarm system.

After reading the reviews and looking at the prices and features of competing systems I decided on this bundle and was quite impressed. As soon as you open the box you get the feeling that you are getting a lot for your money. Two attractive 4-button key fobs (with an LED display bright enough to be a flashlight!), an unobtrusive central control unit, multiple cable sets for input and output connections, an external alarm siren, an additional motion sensor with adjustable sensitivity , a wired LED indicator for the active display of the alarm and various accessories and instructions. As previously mentioned, you must have access to wiring diagrams in order to connect the system to your vehicle's unique electrical system. Installing the Ford Windstar was somewhat difficult due to the ubiquitous use of control modules instead of simple relays and hard wiring. I was able to easily hook up the door lock activation to a common point high under the dash next to the fuse box. But the car modules split the side lights into multiple quadrants, so I couldn't just hook up a single control wire to flash all the lights at once the way I wanted. Also, I encountered another issue with the horn and siren connections. I introduced an intermittent connection with positive power connection. Surprisingly, when the connection was lost, the siren/horn sounded continuously; When the connection was good, everything worked fine. To check I pulled the +12V fuse and the siren worked! This could be a workaround for a would-be thief trying to shut down the system, but what if the fuse blows as legitimate circuit protection? I've heard stories of people driving their cars with horns shortly after installing car alarms. This may have been a feature of Ford's electrical system; There has to be electricity somewhere when the fuse is pulled! One of the lines can supply power and not just a potential-free contact. But all of this was besides my main purpose to allow my wife to operate the locks comfortably. The ACTIVE LED on the instrument panel will flash when locked even if the horn/siren control is not connected. I know there are many other features available to me if I ever feel confident enough to plug them in. Overall a simple and inexpensive upgrade to my old car that is more than worth the little money invested!
