I liked the style of this bench when I was looking for a piano bench but it was so cheap I figured it must be flimsy or cheap. I chose this because I really liked this style. I'm so glad I did. That's a nice bench. Extremely durable. I am 5ft 3in and 230lbs. it doesn't wobble at all, even when leaning back and forth for the upper and lower octaves of the piano. I wasn't expecting much from a soft top when I ordered it. I figured I'd probably end up restoring it. But the covered seating area is very nice. It's a durable upholstery fabric that's still soft and inviting to the touch. The tufted buttons have been loosened. Cool gray color. It's not a warm grey. It's not a very thick pad (around 1.5 inches), but it's not bad enough for me to put more on it. I can play the piano for 2 hours before I get uncomfortable (mostly from behind). This is the perfect height for a piano bench, at least for me (5ft 3in). My piano's feet are 24 inches, which is a few inches shorter than some pianos (if that gives any idea of the height for your needs). It has 4 bolts that go through the welded grommets at 90 degrees to attach it to the seat, so I think it's easy to rebuild if you want. Assembly was easy except for one part (the center poles below) that would have been easier with a second person. The metal frame was not solid. The metal is slightly shiny but not shiny. Rather powder coated. I posted a photo of a metal bench next to my "matte" finish on my piano. The metal shines a bit, but it doesn't look bad. I think metal can be shiny or matte. It's sort of an "intermediate" finish (think "satin" instead of matte or gloss). It's pitch black. No problem getting ready. The style is a good complement to a range of interior styles, from transitional to contemporary. According to the label from China. I will update if anything changes with longevity. But I am very glad that I chose this bank.
