I've never had such headphones. They conduct sound through the bony structure on the outside of the ear. The effect is that you can hear the surround sound while listening to audio. The benefits are undeniable - drive and hear the car behind you, hear audio, and be able to hear someone speaking to you. With these headphones, you can do just that. They are comfortable, sit on the back of the neck and the padding is pressed lightly against the head just in front of the ears. This allows them to be worn for quite a long time. They also fit me with glasses. Care must be taken to get the best possible sound and the sound may need to be cranked up a bit to be at the same volume as a pair of in-ear headphones, although I listen to them at a lower volume because I really want to hear the noise around you around Pairing is easy, voice prompts will let you know the status of power on, pairing or power off. At higher volumes, audio drops out, so other people may not be able to hear what you are listening to. A microphone for telephoning with the mobile phone is available. Controls are intuitive - the left earcup has a built-in button to skip tracks, pause music, and answer calls. On the right side, behind the ear, are three small buttons for power, pairing, and volume control. Sonically, this isn't the best choice for high-fidelity playback. They sound decent, not tinny or shrill, but not as good as in-ear headphones - the bass is a bit muffled. To be clear, I weigh their benefits versus sound, and as a result, I wore them to my computer for 2 hours, sometimes forgetting they were on. Phone calls are a different matter - although they have a built-in microphone for receiving calls - the audio quality isn't very good on either side. The headphones come with a case with Velcro on the back for use as a wristband - though too small for me. The pocket is large enough to hold a phone or the headphones themselves, with an additional pocket for the charging cable - a short micro USB cable is included. The instruction manual is basic but covers the basics of its use, although it doesn't provide an explanation for proper fitting. Oddly enough, a pair of foam ear tips are also included to block out ambient noise. This is a one-of-a-kind pair of headphones, I've found, and the result should be judged on its own merits. The ability to hear ambient sounds is a big plus for me, as is their comfort. I listen to them at a lower volume which is better for my hearing. Overall, while I'll continue to use my other Bluetooth headphones when I need better sound, these are a good option when I want to engage with my surroundings.
