Required for prism refractometers and seawater tanks.
Absolutely necessary if you use a prism refractometer for your saltwater aquarium. This calibration fluid has never let me down, and since I started calibrating my refractometer twice a week my pico reef and its inhabitants have become _significant_ happier. Never perform a RO/DI water calibration. Google it. You will find two different types of offset errors due to prism errors. Using this calibration fluid brings your refractometer into the range you are actually testing, making the instrument much more accurate.
