Solution/Packaging/Shipping - A+

Solution worked as expected. What more can you say? 😊 In addition, the shipping was great and the solution came in a plastic bag (I don't think it hurts if it leaks) and was packed in a cardboard box. I regularly check the salinity in my aquariums. I will buy again when the time comes.

NOT EVEN NEAR 35 PPT! BEWARE!

I have a primary SPS tank so I need a reliable calibration solution. I have lost nearly thousands of dollars in coral because of this product. My almost empty BRS calibration solution showed 35 PPT, after calibrating with this liquid my reading was 42 PPT! This product has a purpose and it is COMPLETELY FALSE. I'll only say this once, be careful buyers!

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Zero

If you have a refractometer this is a must have

It won't help if you use a refractometer without this solution, you won't check your SG accurately. To use this solution accurately, it must be at the specified temperature. However, to use it most accurately, I personally float the bottle in my sump and make sure the water and solution are the same temperature when I calibrate the gauge and then check my SG.

Pros
  • Large selection
Cons
  • Only available in white

Forget this product! Make your own calibration liquid.

Be skeptical about this product. Its accuracy is not guaranteed and I would not simply rely on it. I thought it would be helpful to check/calibrate my Milwaukee digital refractometer with this product. I assumed it was done by professionals and at first thought my device was off by 1 ppt even after many attempts to calibrate with RODI. As a result, I have started adapting my 3 aquariums to the salinity of this product. My corals and livestock were fine, but I came across an article from…

Required for prism refractometers and seawater tanks.

Absolutely necessary if you use a prism refractometer for your saltwater aquarium. This calibration fluid has never let me down, and since I started calibrating my refractometer twice a week my pico reef and its inhabitants have become _significant_ happier. Never perform a RO/DI water calibration. Google it. You will find two different types of offset errors due to prism errors. Using this calibration fluid brings your refractometer into the range you are actually testing, making the…

Check the famous 35 ppt standard before you trust it.

I've been using this solution for years and the last few times I've gotten new bottles the results have been mixed. The bottle I just bought was 4 ppt lower than the 2 solutions I know were correct. Unfortunately, this has become inconsistent. I enjoyed using it because of the simplicity with the integrated bottle and dropper. Unfortunately, there seems to be a quality control issue somewhere. Of the last 2 bottles I bought, 2 were right and 2 wrong. One bottle showed 37 ppt and the last bottle

Pros
  • Lots of positive vibes
Cons
  • No power
