Touch screen is not accurate

I was planning to use it as a second computer monitor to use as a math teacher. My 18" all-in-one is showing its age. Image quality is good (for the price), but even with a top-of-the-line, highly sensitive ultra-thin pen, the screen just doesn't read text consistently. You can press buttons, but labels, Words and letters are not captured consistently.
