Review on ๐Ÿšฒ YAKIMA FullBack Premium Trunk Strap Bike Rack by Robert Lemons

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Reliable, well made, but very heavy.

It was a bit difficult to find a trunk with a manufacturer recommendation for our Volvo XC60. So I chose Yakima as one of the few places where our car is even listed. The trunk is very well built and very heavy. (Much heavier than my wife's bike!) Best with two people. Because it's so heavy, the electric trunk opener can't lift it, and you have to hold it open somehow to actually mount the latches and anti-theft device. Unfortunately, the instructions aren't specific to any particular vehicle, so we initially had trouble understanding how to install it properly. Well, this is our first bike rack so maybe we were a bit too cautious. Anyway, we did it and once you installed the rack everything was a breeze. Bikes fit very easily and are fully fixed with a simple mechanism. We drove 5 hours straight and it wasn't a problem at all. It's really simple and reliable. The lock is a bit difficult to understand the first time, it only secures the second bike and the steel wire is quite short. You don't know what to do when you only have one bike to carry. Install outside? Overall it works and provides reliable transport for your bikes. But you can't use the trunk (because the trunk is so heavy). Rear wiper locked (DO NOT TURN ON ACCIDENTALLY!) - Our Volvo turns it on automatically when reversing, so you need to turn off the wipers before reversing. The license plate is blocked. blocked (as is the case with most of these carriers, especially when the bikes are mounted, of course). Not sure what a person should do in this situation.
