Installation/removal for each use is very time consuming

It works but it's a tedious process (on my Tesla 3 model). Finding the right place to install a Tesla Model 3 is very difficult. and then inserting anchors at the top - a cumbersome process to do on your own. It's tiring to position the bracket so that it doesn't sit on top of the bumper, but sits an inch from the bumper just above the underside of the license plate frame. .The spring loaded mounts have strap guides but when using them you cannot easily adjust/tighten the straps. Once properlyโ€ฆ

Does not work with modern mountain bikes

Does not work with modern mountain bikes. Even with a $60 pipe. The clamp designed to attach to the seatpost doesn't leave room for it unless you rotate the bike back and forth and slide it into place. Renting a bike is even worse. It's all in the rear tire. Second, if you don't have internal cable routing, your bike will transfer all of its weight to your brake lines (see pictures). the seat post scratches both. When this is applied to keep the bike level, the clamps securing the bike are noโ€ฆ

That's a great rack! - Camping

If you're looking for a great bike carrier this is it and it fits a wide range of bike sizes. Easy to install by following the included instructions. Great site to find the dial setting for different cars. This works well for the 2002 Accord and also works well for the 2016 Ford Escape. The trunk and tailgate open correctly with no interference from the trunk. The roof rack adapts to a variety of vehicles, check the Yakima website to see if it fits your vehicle. It's strong but not thin. Iโ€ฆ

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

Incredibly easy to install on my car. great internet guide for a perfect fit to my Subaru. I've tried roof racks and have never been happy with the security of the bikes or the possibility of damaging the roof when turning the rack on and off. I've made several trips with this system and can say that it's safe and doesn't damage the look of my car (I protected my spoiler with a foam cover that fits the tube). I also like how easy it is to remove when I need it. although I must say - in itselfโ€ฆ

Reliable, well made, but very heavy.

It was a bit difficult to find a trunk with a manufacturer recommendation for our Volvo XC60. So I chose Yakima as one of the few places where our car is even listed. The trunk is very well built and very heavy. (Much heavier than my wife's bike!) Best with two people. Because it's so heavy, the electric trunk opener can't lift it, and you have to hold it open somehow to actually mount the latches and anti-theft device. Unfortunately, the instructions aren't specific to any particular vehicleโ€ฆ

Very good bike rack

This is a very good bike rack. It got 4 stars instead of 5 because of a couple of imperfections that didn't matter to me. For reference I have a two bike version and I installed it on a 2013 Toyota Venza crossover. It had a men's and a women's bike, with the women's bike fitted with an inexpensive crossbar, which was necessary in my case. Once properly assembled everything was very solid and wobbled a bit. This rack is pretty solid and requires no assembly. I found the installation fairly easy,

Problems and Solutions CX 5

I used this roof rack on a 2017 Mazda CX 5 for a 10 hour 3 mountain bike ride in the mountains of North Carolina. My car had dents underneath, but I don't think it's the trunk. A nice man tightened the seat belts while filling up with gas, after which my car was crushed. My recommendation: Do not use the metal rings on the side of the trunk to attach the floor straps, but leave the anchor hooks on the trunk floor according to the installation instructions. Pay CAREFUL attention to the placement

Pros
  • Great for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Some little things
