Review on πŸ“Ί Sceptre U550CV-U 55-inch 4K Ultra HD 2160p 60Hz LED HDTV with 4K x 2K Resolution by John Bourgeois

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great UHDTV and for the price you can't go wrong.

It was 1/3 the price I paid for the first HDTV Scepter I bought in 2004, but it's even bigger. Colors are good initially for a TV, but in order to use it as a computer monitor I had to create a new color profile for it on my Mac. And I had to tweak the color options, but it looks really good. (Brightness=50, Contrast=37, Backlight=75, Color=69, Tint=-37, Sharpness=57, Screen Size=Full 100%, Dynamic Contrast=On, Film Mode=On, Video Noise Reduction=High, Noise Reduction DT= High, MEMC Setting = On, White Balance R=124, G=120, B=115, Offsets are 1024). I'm not saying it's perfect or what a calibration device is, but it looks good and passes online calibration tests. The MEMC setting is said to allow the TV to mimic a 120Hz refresh rate and smooth out motion. The screen does not have a matte surface. So when sunlight enters a room through windows or lights, it will be reflected when there is a dark scene on the screen. I've also noticed that my Sony stereo remote has some of the same commands, so the power button on the remote now turns on both the TV and the stereo. However, this is not the fastest download. When connected to a MacBook, it showed 18 seconds. I haven't connected it to a 4K video source yet. But at 1920x1080 resolution it works fine. I am very happy with this TV so far. I also ordered it on Friday and it arrived a week early the following Wednesday.
