Replaces a 7 year old Optoma HD20

We had an Optoma HD20 for 7 years that eventually stopped working. We use our theater room every night and love it so I decided to stay with Optoma as our last one worked so well. What I like about the new HD28HDR(1): The projector now has sound, which is a nice addition. (2) Fan noise is next to nothing compared to our HD20 (3) Has 4K to work with our Roku Ultra (4) Picture is even better, great contrast and incredible sharpness. It's just perfect, we have a 100 inch screen and it's just amazing! Update **** So I had my first problem with this device and it's not even a year old. Got an extended warranty but my device is still under manufacturer warranty so I had to call Optoma, my device started up for no reason, went to a blank screen, there was still sound but no picture, the power button red and the Lamp indicator flashes red. The technician on the phone said it looked like a lamp failure. (Total hours on lamp 300 and eco mode) It is rated for 15,000 in eco mode and 4000, if not there is no reason for lamp failure. He said you should remove and reinstall the lightbulb. I said I would do that but I don't see any instructions on how to do it and the sticker on the side says void the warranty. He said no and I'm sure it says how to change a lightbulb so he looked it up just to make sure I was right, the instructions don't say anything about changing a lightbulb. Then he said that the company might want our tech to do it only on that device. (I changed the bulb on my old 2 very easily). get them to do a simple lamp change. So he told me to use the guide on another device that has the same setting to open and reinstall the bulb. He said don't worry it doesn't void the warranty if it doesn't work send it to us. I've inspected it and it's still very clean and mine hangs on a bracket so it never moves, no signs of dust build up which is usually the enemy of these units. Now I have to decide if I want to disassemble it, put the bulb back in or send it to them. If I knew that maybe this device wasn't made to allow the owner to change a lightbulb I would definitely buy something else and I would probably tell anyone looking at it now because lightbulbs break and burn through it always seems to happen at the worst possible time, like the day before the Super Bowl (yes, I had), so I'd rather have a backup. I would even seriously consider a device without bulbs if you were on the market they would cost more but in the long run you might be glad you spent the extra money because if that bulb breaks every time, did I have to send it and wait for the return I will not be a satisfied customer. Update #2 Optoma had this unit for 1 month, I kept having to email them asking when would we get it back? Finally they emailed me yesterday saying it was a bulb out but at the moment they don't have the bulbs and don't expect them until September. So now I can see 2 1/2 months without a projector. I emailed them and offered to buy a better model if they refund me for this model. Just let me upgrade and run my theater room again and I've been told no, my only option is to wait with this part. DO NOT BUY! Also, if you're buying a projector, note that Optoma has a repair center in the US, it's in California, so shipping there was about $60 since I'm on the east coast.
