Review on Dorman 615-180 Engine Intake Manifold: A Perfect Fit for Select Models by John Mceachern

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Don't expect perfect quality control!

I give this part 3 stars simply because it performs better than stock and fixes some factory issues. If aftermarket companies can't do their job perfectly, I think they need to go "back to the drawing board." There were two quirks with the distributor I received. #1, one of the bolts as shown in the photo that attaches to the throttle body inlet was bent and the threads were a bit odd. I would not screw myself into the corps in the plenum. I had to severely tap the thread and bend the pin properly in a vise with brass jaws. never mind #2 inlet gaskets were slightly skewed to the inlets. I'm not sure if the problem is with the sealing pad or with the plastic inlet bracket, it's a two piece part. It was at least 1/8 inch out of alignment. some collected and massaged to make it fit much better and conform to what it was designed for. Cheer up. You often get this quality from China. But it says "Made in the USA" on the box. I find it very hard to believe it was made in the USA because most of the other parts that Doman sells are made in China. You almost always have to "massage". Can't think of an inexpensive solution to keep our jobs in the US. They don't even try! Sometimes they go "offshore" for a while and then bring the jobs home when it's clearly not working, when the quality drops and they start losing customers and their profits! that the product works as intended and is much better than the original. I installed it and it works great. And yes, I replaced the lower intake manifold gasket with a premium magnum kit and Dorman aluminum heater hose fittings, they were perfect. Much luck.
