Review on πŸ’‘ Inrush Current Limiters 2Ohms Ametherm: Efficiently Handle High Current Surges by Bob Schultz

This eliminated the chlorine shortage problem, as well as problems with power and light generation.

This little $8 part has helped me and saved me a lot of money. My Hayward Aqua Rite system stopped producing chlorine with no evidence of a problem. Called Hayward Helpdesk. What a waste of my time. All they did was post links to user guides and general usage FAQs. They also said to contact a local pool repair company to fix my problem. It wouldn't be cheap. I took the salt cell to Leslie to have it checked and it was fine. They tested my water and said the nitrate levels were too high and I needed to drain the pool for the Aqua Rite system to work properly. What a bunch of cops. I bought nitrate test strips and found the nitrate levels were high, but not nearly enough to warrant draining the pool. I started pouring liquid chlorine into the pool to forestall the algae. Meanwhile, the lights on the control box went out. The display worked, showing salinity etc but no power indicator, no light produced etc. After weeks of chlorine and algae growth I had had enough and decided to buy a brand new system online. While checking the prices I came across INYOPOOLS.COM and read some information on how to troubleshoot the AquaRite system. They suggested replacing the current limiter. That did it! The system works better than before. I always had to set the level to 100% but now I can set it to a lower level and still keep the chlorine level high. As others have suggested, when replacing this current limiter, cut off the old one and leave enough "legs" sticking out to solder the new one on. A regular soldering iron worked for me. You don't need anything special. The new stop came up where it touches the lid, so I bent it just a bit and the lid fitted nicely. You can cut the new pins a little shorter or bend them before soldering if you're afraid of breaking them. This little piece was worth the money and saved me a lot of money. Note that my system stopped producing chlorine before the POWER, GENERATING, etc. lights went off. You may want to replace this part if you have an inexplicably low level of chlorine and the indicator lights are still working. What are you losing for $8?
