I spilled even a little cola on it once, the laptop did not get wet, the backpack was washed in the typewriter without problems. Its cons: The top fabric is thin and still wicks moisture. That is, if you walk in the rain for 7-8 minutes, then it will not get wet. If the rain is heavy and you stand under it for 12-15 minutes, then the moisture will seep out. I once got wet through, but the laptop, it seems, was nothing. Not every 15 inch laptop will fit into the laptop pocket. The MacBook Pro Retina 15 fits perfectly, but the DELL XPS L502X, for example, barely fits into the main compartment. But I think that any more or less modern laptop should fit.
