Do I need air gaps
I purchased this product thinking an air gap would be needed but my contractor told me they were no longer needed in California and they were never useful. All you need is an ugly extra hole in the countertop and a lid that gurgles water when the dishwasher is running. But running the dishwasher line above the dishwasher itself (but still under the counter) solves the problem just as well, presumably without the extra parts.
