For me it was a waste of money too. Doesn't fit my brand of hose, and even if it did, it wouldn't fit my sewer connection (Valterra). What I have found great for all of these uses is an open sponge oil filter wrench (instead of a closed circuit). Check the Bastex oil filter wrench at Revain or elsewhere. It's steel and adjustable to over 4 inches (perfect for hose fittings and drain plugs). It has teeth on the jaws so you can protect the tube or cap with a rag to prevent scratches. or not. Now I can FIRMLY attach the end valve to the waste water outlet on my Alpenlite motorhome and then my waste water hoses. Update: sorry. it sounded like a brand endorsement. It wasn't intentional. I have no interest or investment in Bastex. Choose the oil filter wrench that you think works best.
