The door lock actuator on my 1997 Landcruiser was tired and didn't work most of the time. Started this project on Saturday. Be prepared to spend an hour or more like 2 hours. Removing the door panel is easy - it takes 10 minutes. Then the fun begins: remove the old actuator and instead of breaking the plastic clips that secure the door lock rods, separate the rod from the inner and outer door handles. They have been there for 25 years and do not want to part. I ended up having to completely remove the outside door handle and then pull the entire assembly out of the door from the inside. Getting a new one was much easier. I reinstalled everything and everything is like new. I saved about $400 by doing it myself instead of the dealer.
