I have had DDR-63 for a few years now. The problem is that the display is very dark. So I contacted Sangean to purchase a service manual. A few years ago I was the owner of a repair shop for repairing household and industrial appliances. I was told they would not sell me the manual and the only way to fix it was to send it to them. They recommended a software update that I could do myself to fix the problem. I had great doubts about this solution to the problem, but since they recommended it, I went for it. Now the display is not only dimmed, it also no longer records. I have no way of restoring the original software. The bottom line is to stay away from Sangean unless you just want to keep paying!
