Really didn't want to buy this for my Boston Terrier puppy. I have had dogs all my life and have never needed a shock collar. However, there were a few moments when I wished I had one. My puppy had a bad habit of not coming when called. Birds and smelly things were worth ignoring me. I kept him outside on a training rope for 2 months and rewarded him with treats every time he came when I called him. But once he gained some freedom, he stopped listening. The remote control and collar are charged by the wall charger charging them at the same time. I don't even feel lower settings on the collar below 20. Around 20 I feel a slight charge on my wrist. My pup seems to respond around 25 so I didn't have to go past that. The first few times he felt it, he looked confused. I tell him to come over, if he doesn't answer I put the vibrator on, usually that's all I have to do now. If for some reason he doesn't answer after a few rings and starts vibrating after I call, he gets a very slight static charge that gets his attention and he comes. I haven't had to shock him in a week now, just a few vibrations here and there. It's just nice when I let him off the leash. A few more months with it and I think I'll sell it because I don't need it anymore. It has made my outdoor workouts and games much better with no disappointments. Update 4/42017: Still working fine. Without this collar, my dog sometimes won't listen to me. I rarely have to hit the vibrate button with this collar as my dog knows he needs to be alert. Most of the time I put it on him and don't even turn it on because he almost goes nuts for it when I call him. I think I only used the shock function twice last year when he hurriedly chased the cat and headed down the street and wasn't listening, and again when he rushed to play with the skunk the bank.
