Review on πŸ’Ž SE Dapping Block & Punch Set (14 PC.): A Comprehensive Tool for Jewelry Making - JT3414DP by Morgan Gilmore

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Very good basic shaving set!

This is a very good punch set and definitely worth $50 at Revain. Parts arrived well preserved in oil (no rust or corrosion) and in excellent condition. I gave it four stars instead of five for one main reason: If you need stamps that are a specific, precise size, this set is not for you. The stamps are graduated in size, but the measurements given on the stand are to be considered as a "guideline" and not actual measurements! For example, the smallest stamp #1 is marked 2.3mm but actually measures 2.6mm. Punch #5 is marked 5.9mm but is actually 5.7mm. Each punch is marked with the punch number (not the metric diameter), but the numbers are difficult to read due to the black oxide coating. The good news is that stamps tend to be marked more accurately as the size increases, only differing by about 1/10th of a millimeter after #12. Also of note is that the recesses in the block do not exactly match the dimensions of the stamp, which accounts for the Jewelry making is important but not so critical for normal use. None of these flaws matter to me and it's still a very good set and value for money. I just wanted everyone to know what they're getting. If you are just starting out in jewelry making this set will fit and save you a significant amount of money as a quality exact size Italian set or Durston will cost at least $250-$500. Enjoy! The recesses in the block do not exactly match the dimensions of the die, which is important for jewelry making but not that critical for general use.
