Review on HCW-5 Park Tool Lock Spanner (109917) by Justin Garcia

It's not your father's wrench, son.

It's not the easiest tool to use, but it probably won't be the most used tool in your arsenal. In other words, this tool is for people who really know what they are doing with it. This is a bike specialist's tool dedicated to loosening bottom bracket assemblies and is not intended for the less knowledgeable average cyclist looking to save a buck or two by doing repairs at home. This tool will most likely slip off the first time you try to use it, and there's a good chance you'll snap a few joints and yell a few expletives here and there, so best leave this tool for later. experienced bicycle mechanic. That being said, when it works as intended it's an absolute blessing and will have you wondering what you ever did without it. Then it works. If that doesn't work, you'll wish anyone who's worked on this bike has ever tightened a locking ring that tight.

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • You could have chosen a newer model
