Instead of a guide pin and two spammer pins to engage the groove in the inserts, the tool provided had a threaded insert and flat top that could easily be screwed into the insert until tight smoothly and did not begin to rotate the insert. Despite using the supplied pilot hole drill and using lubricant on the insert, the threaded portion of the tool broke after installing the second insert. I returned the kit and bought the tool that was supposed to come with the kit (as pictured in the ad). This tool works better, but when you reach the stop, the tool pops out of the slot and snips the edge, leaving you with only one real attempt to install the inserts. That's fine if you have enough depth in the pilot. holes and apply constant, firm pressure perpendicular to the insert when installing. If you make a mistake and the tool pops out before you reach the desired depth, it's better to just remove the bit and replace it with a new one. .General. The inserts themselves are great, much better quality than hardware stores and much better than what mass furniture manufacturers use in their products. When properly installed, these inserts will outlive the furniture I make with them. However, the included installation tool leaves a lot to be desired.
