I bought this to put on a truck seat to make the seat more comfortable and it worked great. I put two layers on the seat and it literally saved my lower back and rear end through 8000+ miles of big car driving. The important point is that this foam is dense enough and strong enough to provide the cushioning needed to properly support the buttocks while riding. Using this foam I realized that a softer foam isn't firm enough to cushion you properly. This foam is strong enough to distribute the force effectively down the back of the body. Softer foams will not work. Soft foams compress too easily, distributing the force to a smaller area of the buttocks. It's hard to explain why, but it's true. I'm an engineer and I know. This foam is also very strong and durable. After sitting on it, playing with it, stretching it during repositioning, and getting in and out of the seat hundreds of times, it showed no signs of permanent compression or tearing (although I was careful not to tear it). I would recommend it for seat use only.
