Review on 🎧 OM Digital Solutions WS-300M 256MB Voice Recorder & Music Player by Ellington Gardner

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Small package, big possibilities

First of all, this is a great music player. "WOW" and bass boosts contribute to the initially good sound quality. There's even a 5-band equalizer. However, if that's your primary use of the device, you might want to spend a little more money for a WS-320M with quadruple storage. Downloading music to your device couldn't be easier. Just plug it into a USB port and copy your MP3 and WMA files to your music folder. The small display shows the titles of all the songs so you can choose what you want to hear, play all or just the contents of a folder. It saves any file type, not just the ones it understands, so you can use it to transfer data from one computer to another. There are several recording quality options. The minimum quality setting saves 68 hours, so the storage capacity is sufficient. You can also choose to record at full sensitivity or turn it off and speak next to the mic to reduce noise. At maximum sensitivity, I got excellent captures of bird calls, even when they were more than 100 feet away. Recordings are saved in WMA format. They can be viewed on the device itself or copied to a PC for editing and enhancement. Carrying bag not included. I found a leather glasses case with a lining, Velcro closure and a sturdy pocket clip. This turned out to be the ideal case. If you wear glasses, you probably have one laying around. The WS-300M is small enough to hold headphones and a few extra batteries, maybe even a small external microphone. Olympus seems to have packed almost every possible feature into a very small bag, which is an amazing achievement. Engineering. I really can't think of anything I don't like about this device.
