I used to have several dry bags but none of them were actually backpacks. I needed something to store extra clothing and electronics while in the field. You never know what kind of weather you're going to face, that's why I bought it. While I haven't used it in the pouring rain, taken it on a boat trip, or used it in the rain, I've used it in the shower for 10 minutes and spilled water on my lame sink for about 5 minutes. . It is absolutely waterproof. The canopy folds in all directions, but I prefer to fold it so that it doesn't hit the back of my head or my upper back when the ends are pinned together. The construction seems very solid and I'll try to give a review after testing it in the field. I bought the 30L size and honestly it's too big for my needs, but that's irrelevant to this review. Know that you can cram a lot of things into it. Oh and I read a few other reviews before buying and one said it would fit in carry on but I think 30 liters is too big for that but it might if not full. The material is heavy enough that I have a feeling it will last, but I didn't rate this bag as "light" because of that. If you want a waterproof, rubberized outdoor fabric that's built to withstand the elements, don't worry too much about the weight. Important aspects of this bag are its waterproofness, quality construction, durability and finally other features. For me it's YES to all of these questions, hence 5 stars. As for other features, the shoulder straps are a little more comfortable than simple straps, which can bite your skin when the bag is heavy or when you're carrying it on bare skin. The straps are good and have things I can attach a mic to for my walkie-talkie. This was one of the main selling points for me, as was the black and yellow colorway. I like these colors because they are a little more muted than an all yellow or solid color bag. The dark black color gives it a bit of character. I have other colorful bags, so I didn't need this bag to be all bright yellow. Shoelaces are great for connecting things or quickly attaching things to the outside. All the clasps and connectors appear to be of standard quality - no cheaper or better than other similarly priced bags. The fabric straps and stitching quality is something I don't know about yet, but like I said I'll try to give another review after using it in the field. Also, time will tell how well the material and colors hold up over time in the sun or salt water. In my experience, such material heats up very quickly in the sun and sometimes begins to fade, chip or even deteriorate. Hope this review helps!
