Review on Bubble Magus BM Curve Protein Skimmer by Ryan Hare

UPDATE: As I mentioned in my previous review, there is no customer support for this product. So if you are not willing to solve potential problems yourself, be careful with the buyer. However the product finally works after 7 days of head scratching and trying so I'm increasing the stars to 3 but dropping two due to the complete lack of customer support as this skimmer actually works once dialed in. After 7 days and lots of trial and error I managed to get this working as intended and it works great as I mentioned above. Below are two things that I believe stopped the overflow. The second might be useful to try before a vinegar bath, but since I can't test that theory. In addition to a thorough cleaning of all parts with soap and water prior to installing the skimmer, which by itself didn't work, I also ended up running it in a 50/50 mixture of white vinegar and water for about 6 hours to allow for any additional manufacturing oils remove , residue etc. e. While white vinegar will not harm your marine aquarium in very small doses, be sure to rinse all parts thoroughly. before putting the skimmer back into the sump to avoid unexpected changes in water parameters. The included instructions don't list a specific water level, but there is a post in the questions that says a water level of 9.5" to 11" is required, so I wrongly assumed a water level of 10" " would work fine in my sump. In my case the 10" level didn't work at all. In the end I settled on 8.75" which has the skimmer set just above 3 and produces lots of dark green skimming. Again, a try before the vinegar bath might have worked. No support number! If only I could give zero stars ie would for that reason alone. A company should endorse their products and offer at least some level of support, right? If I get a response from support or find out why the overflow won't stop (running for 5 days) I will update the review with my findings to help others as Bubble Magus AKA Jiangmen Jiyang Aquarium Equipment Co.,Ltd. doesn't seem to offer any support for their products, which makes me nervous when I need warranty assistance.
