I have and currently use a Nikon MC-DC2 remote release cable (useful for tripod/macro photography), a Nikon ML-L3 wireless remote release (IR and almost useless IMHO), Gigabit Ethernet T Pro ll 2.4 GHz timer radio remote (intervalometer too complicated) and these Vello FreeWave radio remote triggers that will be my new "transition". When the Vello arrived (on time), the first thing I did, of course, was take it for a test drive. It's pretty simple and easy to use. Once I installed the CR2 battery (no plastic case) it worked perfectly in all modes - lamp, steady, single shot and 2 second delay. It can be built into a hot shoe but needs to be connected using the patch cable provided. Nikon DC2 in my case. When mounted on a hot shoe it interferes with the built in flash on my Nikon d3200 and d5200. It doesn't need to be in the hot shoe so I was able to install and use my SB400 flash. The guide was pretty easy, and if you don't follow the reading process first, you'll still get it the first time. The devices are small and don't take up much storage space, they're light, should be treated with reasonable care (pay special attention to the antenna on the transmitter) and if you have big hands the buttons can be a little clunky in terms of controls and price I'm more as satisfied. Summing up, we can say that it was designed with the old axiom in mind - KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid for those unfamiliar with the term).
