Great student laptop with no frills

Our daughter has been using it for about a week now and we are very happy with the purchase Key benefits - Full HD screen has good clarity and color reproduction. Matte finish with anti-reflective coating. The viewing angle is sufficient for our purposes. The keyboard is the expected "chicken" type, not bad. 6GB of RAM is more than others in this price range. 64 GB is enough to handle all major Windows updates. - TF card slot means expandable storage. - The processor is fast enough, much better than the one she used. - Slim and lightweight, fits easily in a backpack. - The metal top cover feels nice and offers a little more protection for the screen. Comes with full Windows Home, not Windows S typically found in no-frills laptops. Minor Cons: Contrast isn't fantastic. The black screen has clear light reflections at the edges and corners. However, this is not noticeable in real use. The touchable parts, like the palm rest keyboard, aren't made of the highest quality material, but they're adequate. While not the cheapest of the no-frills cheap laptops, I find it to be the best value for money and would recommend it. I might buy another for other family members whose work laptops are pretty outdated. UPDATE 01/12/2020. Overall still happy with this laptop. We had a mechanical failure - the screws holding the hinges came loose, the plastic case cracked. I was able to open it up and replace the screws and haven't had any problems since. Otherwise, it's good for learning. Webcam and sound are fine. Connected a second FHD monitor, no problem. UPDATE 5/3/2021 Pick up a star. 4 of the 8 hinge screws came out again, this time more destructive. Two of the case's eight hinges broke and the display cable came loose as the hinge came loose. Luckily we still had a laptop for the child. I was able to epoxy the hinge mount and replaced all the hinge screws and this time attached with epoxy. And luckily the display cable wasn't damaged either, reconnecting it restored the laptop. So, two conclusions: I believe if the manufacturer used [more] Loctite or something similar to secure the hinge screws, the whole problem could be solved. were excluded - The laptop may not be durable enough for many users. I still think this is good value for a new laptop. For my kids, however, I'm currently focusing on rugged used laptops at a similar price point.
